These are some of the sings of OSA that you might notice in the day time:

Excessive sleepiness, including feeling tired and actually falling asleep
Waking up still feeling tired
Morning headache
Difficulty concentrating
Poor memory
Feeling mentally groggy and dull (less alert)
Feeling depressed, irritable and other mood disturbances
Poor co-ordination
Loss of sex drive (libido)
Poor quality of life
In children the daytime signs include behaviour problems, poor academic performance and failure to thrive, and at night they may be very restless and adopt an unusual sleep position.

People with OSA are at risk of a range of health problems including high blood pressure, and therefore some people with OSA may be at increased risk of having heart attacks and strokes. They are also more at risk of having road traffic accidents which is why it is so important that they get diagnosed as early as possible.

Yes I know that this is a far more serious problem than most people think it is.

There can be serious consequences to undiagnosed or untreated OSA because although OSA is common and treatable. there are many people with OSA who are undiagnosed. Having undiagnosed OSA can have various negative outcomes, some of which are potentially life-threatening and that is why it is so
important that people get diagnosed. If not serious consequences can result.

• It can affect quality of life of the person affected and their family
• It can be associated with other health problems
• It is expensive for the health care system
• There is a higher risk of road traffic accidents
• There is a higher risk of accidents at work
• It can even affect some-one’s ability to work

After many years struggling with this problem my husband and I have had to move to separate bedrooms! He snores so loudly that I just cannot get a good nights sleep in the same bed. We have tried everything but I thin advancing weight and years are against us.
