Yes this subject his come up in the news again recently, saying that those who do not sleep well or long enough are more likely to be over weight. It is apparently because the mechanism in the brain that regulates hunger and all things to do with that resets itself while we sleep so if we have disturbed sleep patterns or do not sleep enough then the brain does not have time to do its things and we get out of control with our eating. I think there might be something in that because the most overweight people, the ones who have to sleep with oxygen usually have sleep apnoea, a condition in which they stop breathing in their sleep. Obviously the more overweight a person becomes the more this is a problem and the more they seem unable to control their weight and so the vicious cycle continues.
