Default Dealing with the plain old blues!

There is always a lot everywhere about serious mood disorders like clinical depression and worse but really mot much about an attack of the blues. You know the sort of thing, you just feel down, no particular reason, just not your usual self.

Being down in the dumps can lead to a feeling that we do not want to exercise, can't be bothered to shop for healthy foods, we're not in the mood to finish that outstanding work. Instead we would far rather just vegetate in front of the TV with a box of our favourite unhealthy snack or comfort food. We are also more likely to turn down social invitations and any other activities that require effort.

To stop this negative and self destructive trend, we need to mange our moods and remember the old adage, half of life is just showing up. When you’re in a funk, this is great advice!

And every day until you’re feeling better, make the effort and increase your pleasure and self-respect with small good for you treats and accomplishments. Even the smallest success will liven your spirits.
