Smile How to get your kids to eat their veggies!

It has probably never been more important to teach our children, who are now suffering epidemic rates of obesity, to eat fruits and vegetables every day.

But what if your kids think broccoli, bananas, beans, and other healthy fare are tantamount to poison?

Well it is so important that you turn things around for them. You can actually do that as has been discovered by researchers at University College London who in their study randomly assigned kids ages two to six and their parents into one of three groups.

In the first group, parents offered their child a taste every day for two weeks of a vegetable that the child had previously rated as pretty low on the scale of what they liked.

In the second group, the parents received just general information about how important vegetables were for kids while group three, the control group got no guidance at all.

After two weeks, the kids who had been exposed daily to the vegetable they had previously disliked, actually increased their consumption of the food. They also increased their likability ranking of the vegetable, significantly. This did not happen in the either of the other two groups.

In fact, among some of the daily veggie eaters, the previously disliked veggie had actually become a favourite food! Some parents even reported that their children had come to enjoy the daily tastings because they made food more fun!

Worth a try I reckon!?
