You have raised a very interesting and important point. A lot of people try to save money on trips by not taking out insurance and it really is a big mistake.

My dad had a stroke on holiday and luckily he was fully covered by the insurance he had taken out. That was just as well because he was in hospital for ages and then had to be medvaced home! If we had had to pay that bill I dread to think how much it would have been!

There are a lot of different insurance packages available but I would also say don't try to cover up any condition you might already have, be honest otherwise the insurance won't pay out!
