Default Do drugs cause Parkinson's disease?

Parkinson’s disease sufferers display fairly typical symptoms that include an uncontrollable shaking and sudden involuntary movements. We are all well aware of the condition, I am sure, but an interesting thing I saw recently made me sit up and take notice. Scientists have been exploring the possibility that drugs might be the cause of Parkinson 'shakes'. Take the standard anti-Parkinson drug called Levodopa. One of the commonly experienced side effects that can be expected after prolonged use, is, guess what, unpredictable and or jerky movement!

Researchers at Lund University have been looking into the mechanisms in the brain that cause dyskinesia (the medical term for jerky uncontrolled movement) which apparently could be the result of having Parkinson’s disease or from using the drug prescribed to control those very same symptoms! It is hard to comprehend for us lay people but maybe this discovery will lead to further insight into this terrible disease, let's hope so.
