Yes the fear of flying can be really inhibiting for people and can mean that they miss out a lot on doing the things they want to do or going to places they want to go to. I have a friend whose daughter is panning to spend some time in Australia and she would like to go to but the fear of flying is holding her back. As a result her daughter is seriously considering not going, which would be a real shame. It is really getting this seen to!

I have just heard that I have to go to America in the New Year and I am already getting a little bit jumpy about it. I know all the stats, how it is safer than driving and all that but I don't know why I can't get my head to accept that! I feel that I am an intelligent person who ought to be able to rationalise these things but I don't seem to be able to!

One of the things that has worked for a friend of mine was to go on one of those courses that they do at the airport to try to get you to overcome your fear of flying. She was an absolute basket case about flying but her doughtier emigrating has made it essential for her to fly if she wants to see her daughter. It is a bit of the pricey side but if it does the trick, then that is great I suppose.

Default Fear of Flying

Ive been flying since i was just a baby pretty much once or twice every year. I dident used to be scared at all until my ocd got worse. Now i worry a lot more. Just goes to show its the ocd talking here not me same thing for you. And besides evan people without anxeity disorders worry about flying. The way i like to think about it is, if i dont get on that plane im just going to sit here and my life is only going to get worse. "If you fear dieing then your already dead" is a good

That is a great way of looking at it! We have to take ourselves out of our comfort zones now and again. Actually I used to be really afraid of flying and then one day while I was waiting for a flight I sat in a restaurant that overlooked the runway. Somehow seeing dozens taking off and landing, almost like watching a roundabout with cars coming and going without any kind of problem made me lose my fear!
