Depending where you are travelling your doctor will be able to give you the latest advice on what vaccinations you need for your destination. Malaria is still a big killer in some parts of the world and taking daily anti malaria medication is a must in any area where this disease is still rife.
There is an excellent site (see below) that is produced for UK travellers by the NHS which tells you all that you need to know. Other countries, will I am sure have a wealth of such information availabel for the traveller
There are a few tips though. Hepatitis is another disease that it is easy to pick up on holiday in tropical and other far flung places. Watch out for the water, whether it comes as an ice cube or as part of your freshly washed fruit, it is far better to take water purification tablets with you and really be aware of any exposure to untreated water that you might have.
