Default Hospitals make you sick!

We have long been worried about the hospital acquired infection but if you have been hosptialised and have now developed hepatitis your hospital treatment might have been responsible.

Researchers writing in Gastroenterology, 2010 have discovered that it’s quite common for patients to get infected with the virus from hospital equipment although worryingly, they don’t know the extent of the problem. The problem came to light after seven patients from two clinics developed hepatitis. As all 7 patient had been admitted for routine endoscopy examinations, it was initially thought that the problem was due to the endoscopic equipment used to examine these patients. Researchers, however, eventually traced the infection back to the intravenous drip used to deliver anaesthesia to the patient undergoing procedures. It seems the anaesthetist used the same syringe a syringe that was contaminated with hepatitis B and C viruses. This sounds like a random isolated case right? Well no actually because researchers admit that infection from contaminated equipment in hospitals is quite common although they have no idea of the full extent of the problem, and how many people have been infected in this way.

It is important for the hospitals and the nursing staff to take care of that, it is important to use the sterile syringe when you give any parenteral drug to the patients, infected syringe is responsible for the HIV attack as well.

Yes I agree. In the Uk there have been more and more worrying reports about infections in hospital, dirty hospitals etc. The NHS in the UK is embarking on a series of what are said to be severe funding cuts so I don't see this situation improving. it is surely the saddest thing of all if someone comes into hospital ill trusting that they will get the best treatment and then are made even sicker, or worse, killed by an infection they caught in hospital.

A good friend of mine died from a hospital caught infection when she went in for a hip replacement. I was devastated.
