Angry Please Help!!! Head and Neck Problems

Hey all,

To start, I am a 21 year old male, 6ft and 165 pounds. Drink occasionally and don't smoke or do drugs. So the last few months have been a struggle for me and I have no idea what's causing it all. About 5 months ago I experienced some chest pain/pressure. It went on for a couple of days and I went in to the ER. They did an EKG and said it was muscle pain. Tried moving on from there but constantly freaked out about it for the next couple months. Happened again, felt like my heart was racing for no reason (not sure if it was from anxiety) and went back to the ER. They did a CT scan of my chest, another EKG, blood work and said everything was normal. I went to a cardiologist and they gave me a stress test and echo and said that it was most likely an inflamed chest or acid reflux (although acid reflux or GERD is not likely at my age). Gave me a piece of mind for a while and I scheduled a scope coming up to check my stomach. Also, throughout these last few months I went into my physician because or pressure headaches and stomach aches. Was told I have sinus problems and was put on antibiotics for a week. Seemed to go away for a bit but still have headaches on and off for days or weeks at a time. The chest pain has come and gone over the last couple months and I have finally made peace with the fact that it isn't something serious. But now over the last week or so I've been experiencing the worst of all. After stressing over an argument with me girlfriend, I came home from college and have had constant head pressure everywhere. It can be sometimes in my sinuses or my ears will have pressure. It sometimes will be on the sides or top or back of my head. I've also had neck tightness and muscle tightness in my right cheek. It would keep me up at night and sometimes when I fall asleep I get jolted awake by a sudden shock. It freaks me out and a couple times I woke up shaking and shivering uncontrollably. This happened a couple of nights in a row so I went to the doctor and was told it was sinusitis. The inflamed sinuses were causing the dizziness at night which was waking me up and all the neck and head pressure. I was once again prescribed an antibiotic and it seemed to be working for a few days. Now the last couple nights the headaches are back and it feels like my right ear is warm at times. I also have a bit of tingling in my right cheek and jaw. Also, over the last couple weeks I had a tooth ache on and off and throughout the last few months I will get aching arms and sometimes tingling/tired hands. Also, the last couple weeks I haven't had any chest pain/discomfort really.

I'm not sure if this is related at all, but I will little red bumps on my chest and shoulders after showering. Sometimes they are itchy, but always go away after a half hour. I've also noticed that the tops of my feet are somewhat red and are always worse after taking a shower. There are also red pin like dots on my skin in various spots and seem like they've increased in quantity over the last couple months. Again, I'm not sure if the skin issues are related.

All in all, I've been extremely agitated and stressed over all this for the last few months. It's been hard sometimes to look past it or not freak out at times. I'm just very discouraged and am hoping that somebody has a bit of insight that might help or are experiencing some of the same things. I don't know how all of this could be caused by the same problem but at this point who knows. Like I said, i've never had health issues and am very young. Please help!!!!!!!

Thank you,

A worrying man...

Hi there

I am sorry to hear how worried you have been and by now you may be OK, I am sorry I did not spot your post earlier and reply to it!

You are young and the chances of anything very serious being wrong with you are remote. Sinus troubles can give rise to tooth ache and all many other sorts of symptoms and sorting it out will not be a problem if you go along to the doctor.

It is true that there are all sorts of remedies you can read about and look up on the net but please do go and see your doctor first. You will be so glad you did, as you walk out of the surgery with your prescription you will feel a massive weight life off your shoulders. Once you are happy that you are convinced that you are not at deaths door, you will find that a lot of other things that are bothering you, even girlfriend troubles, will be put into perspective!

Default Sinusitis symptom - headache and nasal discharge

Localized headache or toothache are symptoms of Sinusitis. Also usually there is thick discharge of mucus. In your post you have not mentioned whether you also have a blocked nose.

The collection of mucus and the blocking of the nose is what puts pressure on the sensitive sinus cavity and leads to pain.

Use a neti-pot or a drug free, gentle nasal spray like Sinox nasal spray. Since these are drug free, there is practically no risk of side effects.

A long term natural solution is Yoga which emphasis breathing. There are asanas/exercises which are useful for sinusitis.

Good luck.

That is really interesting, I had not heard of Yoga used in this context before, but it does make perfect sense as Yoga does seem to be a universal panacea. I really must look into it as I hear so much so often about the benefits.
