Exclamation Hearing Aids

Open fit

The Open Fit hearing aid is a mini BTE (behind the ear). It is very light and sits behind the ear connected by a tiny thin tube into the ear. Stylish and practically invisible.

Behind the ear hearing aid(BTE)

The BTE hearing aid sits behind the ear connected to an ear mold. The ear mold is essentially plumbing that directs the sound down the ear while the electronic device sits behind the ear.

In the ear hearing aid (ITE)
A larger style all-in-the-ear hearing aid that sits in the bowl of the ear or concha.

In the canal hearing aids (ITC)
This is a smaller type of aid that fits inside the ear. In theory it only takes up the canal space but in practice it does take more than just the canal. Size or cosmetic appeal often varies between manufacturer and the client’s ear canal.

The completely in the canal (CIC)
The completely-in-the-canal hearing aid is the smallest aid possible, designed to sit inside the canal.

Great info on hearing aids. My father and father in law wear them. In fact my father took to his before my father in law and everyone got pretty fed up with shouting at my father in law. It really is silly to go around only half hearing what is being said, as my hubby says, you miss so much. He used to get really angry with his father but as I said to him getting old is frightening and often holds unpleasant surprising such as losing your hearing, and some people find it more difficult to adjust than others. I think that we have to be patients with those who are coming to terms with losing hearing and guide them rather than bully them to wards the solution - a hearing aid!

Yes this is great information as my father is also needing hearing aids and in fact has tried some that did not really work. He is now going to try some digital hearing aids which cost a lot of money but that should, we are told make a huge difference. He was very reluctant to pay the moment but as we said it is a quality of life thing. You need to be able to hear to join in and enjoy life. I will let you know how he gets on!
