Yes family is the best place for elders to live, to care. But nowadays everybody is running in a race where he wants to get first position. They have burden to fulfill their dreams, expectations and the result they can't help their elders when they need them most. In this situation they need a person, who cares them at home. It is not a big deal to search a caregiver. You just have to take a look around and you will get a good one.

Some of the problems that face people when they consider caring for their elders at home is the money side of things. If an adult child is working and needs to to keep a roof over their head, having an elder to stay who needs constant supervision might not be that easy. This is a tough one, I would agree that where possible we should 'look after our own' but there are considerations and I am not sure that I would want to think an older person was left alone all day while their child was out at work. Tough one.

Yes Family is best place for elder care because the elder parents needs care and support from their children in elder age nothing else and it only possible in Family not any assisted living center

I do agree with your Simon. I cannot imagine how frightening it must be to be old and helpless and maybe not in very good health and to feel that you are at the mercy of strangers. We have had a lot of horrible stories lately in this country about old people being badly treated in care homes. I know that many are really excellent but surely, just as our parents were there for us when we were children, then we can be there for them when they are similarly vulnerable in old age.

While I do think that in an ideal world it would be nice to look after our elders at home it is not always possible. I had a friend whose mother had Alzheimers. She agonised about putting her in a home but the fact was that she had to work and her mother left on her own all day was in real danger. In the home they are used to looking after people like her and she was safe. It can be very difficult.
