As you get ready to hit the road for a long trip, a family vacation or maybe a work trip you have a lot of things to think about. You have to think about what you are going to pack, who is going with you, where you are going to stay, the cost of everything, and along with all of those things you have to try not to get sick. There is no visitors guide to go with each state or country that will tell you exactly what to do, what foods to avoid and how often you should wash your hands as you enter them. Because there is no guide you should follow the tips given here along with doing some research on where you are going and what things you should know.
If you traveling to an area where a certain disease is more prevalent then planning ahead will be a tremendous help. Plan ahead by researching the place you are going to be visiting and then go to your doctor to talk about the vaccines you might need or prescriptions you might be able to get in order to prevent catching diseases and or combat the symptoms.
Protect yourself and your family from insect-borne diseases and sunburn. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent. Malaria is not something you want to catch so when you travel to countries where malaria is more prevalent use bug spray and sleep under a mosquito net.

That is really useful information Andres, thanks for that. In fact I was reading an article about safaris in Africa the other day and they recommend that no very young children come on safari and especially not to malarial zones. There is no point in exposing very young children to areas where they might get sick, there are plenty of nice places to holiday until they are a bit older and can really appreciate where you are taking them with less risk of becoming ill.

Hi Carruiz and thanks for that very good description of the planning that has to go into a family vacation, I am sure we all recognise this from our own experience. It is tough to get it right but it is definitely worth getting it right as when things go wrong they can be disastrous. The advice on health is especially important as none want a permanent reminder of their holiday that is a serous affect on their health.

Thanks for sharing, most of us face usually health problems like fever, food poisoning during the travel this is all because of the climatic change, change in water, food and there are people who become irritated and ill during travel. Food poisoning is the most common problem which we face while traveling. To avoid these kinds of health problems, you can take some raw fruits with you which will be helpful.
