Default How much water is good for us?

We are constantly being told that drinking the right amount of water will have a hugely positive effect on your health and wellbeing but just how much is the right amount? Recently I heard that the previous advice had now (like a lot of things) been overruled. Anyway I found these few facts for us to look at!

Most of us know how essential water is to leading a healthy life, but it's easy to underestimate the amount that your body needs to work optimally.

The human body can only survive for a few days without water because (unlike camels!) there are no reserves of it in our bodies.

One suggestion to find out how much water you, as an individual need is to divide your body weight in pounds by half, and drink that many fluid ounces of water per day. For example, if you weigh 120 lbs, you should drink at least 60oz of water daily.

People trying to lose weight have long been aware of the advantages of drinking water, not only is water calorie-free, but drinking the optimum amount also increases your metabolism, meaning that you'll burn calories 3% faster. If you are adequately hydrated this can prevent overeating, your body will not respond to hunger or thirst signals.

- Drinking water at regular intervals can help you reduce the size and frequency of between-meal snacks.

Anyone else got any water related facts or tips?!

Default Hello,

Water is your body's principal chemical component and makes up about 60 percent of your body weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired.

I seem to remember something in the back of my mind about someone dying because they had had too much water, although that seems almost impossible doesn't? After all you would just pee it out if there was too much? What was the way that you heard that water if taken too much can be bad for you, I would love to know, I will try to look around and see the story that I read and let you know later.
