Default Exercise in hot weather - be careful!

I came across these tips recently for those of us who like to take exercise outdoors. While this is great, the heat and especially humidity can take its toll, so look out for any of the following as signs that it is time to go back indoors! Dehydration can be a killer, so please be careful!

Listen to your body. If you’re feeling any of the following, find air-conditioned comfort fast.

•Weakness
•Light-headedness
•Dizziness
•Paling of the skin
•Headache
•Muscle cramps
•Nausea or vomiting
•Rapid heartbeat

Bear in mind that even a 20-minute workout has positive health effects. It’s the number of days you exercise that matters most. Frequency of days far outweighs the amount of time of any given to any one exercise session.

Excellent post! Although I may be a touch late in replying here, but it really is a good idea to avoid the heat while exercising. If you're a runner like I am it's a good idea to wait until sundown to go out. Lots of water throughout the day beforehand as well!

Definitely right Marian and a good tip about going at sun down it really is hopeless to exercise in the heat, you are putting too much strain on the body. I can remember when my husband and I one dark UK winter went to Miami where it was scorching. We did not try to run but merely went for a walk to a shopping centre some 3 or 4 miles away. We were rescued by a kind local who could see by the look of us that we were about to pass out, and he drove us back to our hotel in his air conditioned car! It was so hot and humid and were were not used to it. We were only walking but we very soon started to suffer the effects of the heat. You are so right when you say that the heat is best avoided especially for runners. Still with the weather in the UK at the moment there is definitely no danger of heat exhaustion!
