Coffee consumption has also been linked to decreased risk of Parkinson’s disease and Type 2 diabetes.

Coffee, both caffeinated and decaffeinated, does contain ingredients that may raise LDL cholesterol, but brewing coffee with paper filters tends to reduce this cholesterol-raising effect.

Black tea and green tea, caffeinated as well as decaffeinated, contain ingredients that have many health benefits, such as reduced risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and gum disease.

Caffeine itself has no nutritional value and for most people is mildly addictive. For some, chronic use has side effects such as restlessness, insomnia, and panic attacks. Caffeine may also stimulate the production of stomach acids; increase eye pressure (it is therefore discouraged for those with glaucoma); and interact with a variety of medications (for example, caffeine amplifies the effect of some asthma medications.

Phew, who knew what was lurking in that cup!?

Thanks buddy for sharing this wonderful information, actually i am coffee lover and my day will not be completed without a cup of coffee and i like green tea too.

Yes coffee has a lot of good properties but I think that we have to temper our enthusiasm for the drink with a bit of caution. Too much coffee is not good for you for sure. It excites the neural pathways and it makes you want to go to the loo all the time! I try to limit myself to one cup a day in the morning because apart from anything else I don't sleep that well and I could never drink it in the evening.

In moderate amounts coffee and tea do no harm and indeed can do a lot of good but they, like most everything else, should not be done in excess. Coffee and to a lesser extent tea have properties that speed up the pulse and the heart artificially which is not a good thing. Far better to get that kind of a rush from exercise. I think it is possible to get addicted to coffee in particular and like we say nothing done in excess is good. I agree though I could not wake up in the morning if I did not have my coffee.
