Default Hand Foot and Mouth Disease

this can be really problematic with children. my daughter has lots of blisters forming on her hand causing lots or pain an irritation. some of them are even popping. i am giving her acetaminophen for pain relief. but what is the best treatment for the blisters? also, she is getting pain in her lymph nodes under the armpits. any help would be most appreciated.

You daughter should see a doctor as soon as possible. Lymph node enlargement is always a sign of infection or something else going wrong in the area that the lymph nodes serve. This is very likely due to the fact that your daughter has a skin infection and I am sure that a doctor will be able to offer her something that will clear this up very fast. She must be suffering a lot so I am sure that you will want her to have the relief that medicine can give. I hope that it all clears up very quickly!

Hey amo,These swollen nodes are most likely a result of an infection such as Mononucleosis. This is a very common thing for people your age. We get this question several times a week so don't feel alone. The best thing to do is let them be and go see your physician. If it is mono then you will need some medications to help get through it without it getting worse or causing any other problems.Have your mom make an appt with your physician and get looked at soon. Best wishes.

Hand, foot and mouth disease is very contagious (easily spread) and is common in children under 10 years of age. However, adolescents and adults can also be affected.

Most adults are immune to the coxsackie A and B virus as they have been previously exposed to it during their childhood. Adults who develop the disease usually experience milder symptoms than children.
It is possible to catch hand, foot and mouth disease more than once, but children are unlikely to catch it again during the same outbreak.

Generally, hand, foot and mouth disease is a mild and short-lasting illness. Treatment is usually not needed as the body's immune system clears the virus and symptoms go away after about 7 to 10 days.
