Default Is it necessary to maintain space of missing milk teeth?

Milk teeth are supposed to preserve space till the time permanent teeth erupt. In other words they are reserving space for permanent teeth which start erupting from the age of 6 years till the age of 12-13 years. Wisdom teeth erupt anytime between 17-25 years generally. If due to some reason milk teeth had to be removed, then it is mandatory to make SPACE MAINTAINER in that place to maintain space of permanent teeth.

That is very interesting and I had not thought of that. Of course when a tooth is removed the gum sort of contracts so if you are talking about removing teeth where other teeth will need to follow then I can quite see that it is necessary to keep the other teeth from encroaching on the space. The things you learn on this site! It's great!

I totally agree. I think it is better to consult your dentist when and what procedure to undergo in removing your milk teeth.

Yes even in these days of very high dental costs, there is no substitute for getting professional advice on what is best for your teeth. Especially at that early stage in life it is very important to get it right so that the child does not grow up to be an adult with a lot of dental problems.
