Default Dentistry!!

Hello,

Dentistry is the known evaluation, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders and conditions of the soft and hard tissues of the jaw (mandible), the oral cavity, maxillofacial area and the adjacent and associated structures and their impact on the human body.[1] Dentistry is a part of stomatology. Dentistry is widely considered necessary for complete overall health. Those in the practice of dentistry are known as dentists. Other people aiding in oral health service include dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental technicians, and dental therapists.

Or we can say that Dentistry is that branch of medicine which deals with the study and practice of diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the mouth, the maxilla, and the face.

I have had terrible trouble with my teeth. Well to be exact my gums. I have peridontitis, a gum disease that erodes the bone and loosens the teeth until they fall out or have to be taken out. I have been suffering with this condition for about 8 years now and have lost several teeth and more are loose. The dentist did tell me that smoking can contribute to peridontitis and I am ashamed to say I did smoke for many years. I now feel disgusted that I have brought this on myself and it will not be long now, I am sure before I have to have dentures top and bottom. So if you read this and you smoke, if none of the other reasons for quitting have got to you, imagine losing your teeth for your habit. Not a good thought, and a horrible and very expensive situation.

Don't be too hard on yourself, even without smoking peridontits develops in a certain percentage of the population although it is true that smoking does make the situation worse. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but it sounds as though you are getting the best attention.

Thsat is a great description of the dreaded profession, we at least dreaded by me! I don't know what it is about going to the dentist that most people really dread. Maybe it is too close the brain for comfort and it is horrible when that drill reverberates through your head! Still, if we want decent teeth, we have to go!
