Default Dental Treatment abroad

I have often wondered how practical it would be to look for treatment overseas as a ‘medical tourist’ so when the opportunity came to visit some dental clinics in Poland, on my recent trip there, I jumped at the chance.

I should say that all the dentists I met spoke excellent English as did all hotel staff and most café and restaurant staff where menus are printed in Polish and English and often one or two more European languages.

My hotel in Warsaw Le Regina was easily one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in a lot! It was once the American Embassy and has had many distinguished visitors. Its marble floors central courtyard and general cool elegant atmosphere would be perfect for a hotel to recover in or just to enjoy a stay in Warsaw.

In the time I was in Poland I visited several dental clinics. Prices may be extremely reasonable in Poland but there is certainly nothing cut price about the equipment being used, which is the last word in high-tech. The cleanliness of the clinics is superb and MRSA virtually unheard of.

But as fantastic as these clean well organised and well-equipped clinics are to our jaded eyes, the real delight and total surprise are the prices. I will give you some examples:

A preliminary examination, check up £5.00
A white filling £25 - £40
A steel crown (veneered porcelain) £100.00
Maryland Bridge (depending on materials) £100.00-£200.00
Tooth extraction £16.00
Digital Dental x-ray £4.00
Panoramic Dental x-ray £13.00
Local anaesthetic £3.00
Implants (vary according to number, +- bridge etc) £183-£4000

These are just a few of the prices for every type of dental work you could imagine and some that you have never heard of! In one clinic, Dentika in Pruszkow just outside Warsaw, I spoke to dentist and clinic director Gustaw Baranowiski who told me that all the materials that they use for dentures and prosthetics are of the highest quality, many imported from Switzerland.

Close to Warsaw city centre I visited Vita Medical a newly opened clinic with ten dentists covering all specialties including a specialist children’s dentist. They told me that the laboratory work for dental prosthetics could be undertaken as an express service allowing a weekend visit from an overseas patient.

In a very upmarket residential area of Warsaw I visited Villa Nova and dentist Kris Slaski. In this clinic patients are asked to put shoe covers on when they enter. The whole clinic, which offered a fully comprehensive list of treatments, like all the clnics I visited was spotless and, on your behalf, I did look in corners and under chairs for any sign of dust – I found none.

I also travelled about 450 km south west of Warsaw to Katowice. This city is an industrial city with much to offer the medical tourist. The most up to date equipment is standard in dental clinics everywhere and the Silesia Clinic run by Mariusz Duda was no exception. This clinic concentrates on prosthetic treatment with implantology and they take part in the Regional Training Centres ongoing programme for dentists specialising in implantology. Prices for implants vary but even with the most expensive option that includes bone grafting usually from the jaw bone (mandible) the prices are a very considerable improvement on what you would be required to pay in the UK.

What if something goes wrong at home? I was assured that if the problem was found to be the responsibility of the treating centre in Poland all expenses to return, would be paid.

This is a country where people do not know the meaning of the words jaded, apathetic or mediocre. Courtesy and a very real desire to please are standard. It is rare to hear a car horn sounded in anger and MRSA is all but unknown. This country has a very family feel about it and even when I wandered off the beaten track I always felt safe. There are many undiscovered gems to visit and many old historic sites. But there is certainly nothing but the most modern private health service on offer at prices that, I am sure, will secure Poland’s place as a leading European Health Tourist destination

Default Treatment overseas (dental, plastic, surgery)

Hi there!

I fully support the idea of going abroad for dental care. Places in Europe offering good value for money are numerous including Ukraine, Hungary, and Poland. The quality lives up to the standards the western world is used to. Undergoing treatment abroad one normally needs accommodation and other practical tips. Here one may find a lot of them.

Regards and enjoy your stay wherever you go

You are right and I know that many have excellent reputations for the service they gone and the cleanliness of the clinics they operate from. The language is rarely a problem as most foreign medical and dental professionals speak some English but even if they don't they will offer a full interpreter service.

With dental costs to high in the UK, there is often not real alternative financially than to seek this treatment where it is more reasonably priced, especially for the implant side of things etc.

You will find various journey locations exactly where individuals may advantage upon inexpensive dental care. A number of them can be found within Asian countries, while some are available in European countries. One of many locations within Eu (EUROPEAN UNION) exactly where possess journeyed currently lots of people recently in order to advantage upon dental care overseas is actually Romania. This particular nation is actually person in EUROPEAN UNION because 2006 as well as through which second dental care methods in the primary metropolitan areas of the nation possess created severe opportunities within contemporary gear as well as supplies, truth meaning dental care provided by this particular methods is actually from the exact same high quality since the 1 in the traditional western nations such as UNITED KINGDOM, Ireland in europe, Italia, Portugal, Indonesia, UNITED STATES or even North america. People think if we treatment abroad for any health problem so there is very less chance for any disorder, but it's not exactly. Actually, numerous dental care laboratories within Europe selected in order to outsource their own dental care function in order to Romania, therefore the inexpensive costs which this particular labs market their own items could be described therefore.

Yes this is an area that a lot of people are pursuing as the costs of dental treatment get higher and higher, especially here in the UK. It used to be that dental treatment in this country was free for everyone but no more and the full cost is now apparent. I cant help thinking like a lot of things in this country prices have been very much inflated but that is what we are stuck with! As a result dental health in this country is awful.
