Botox is a toxin, but administrated in small doses is not dangerous. But that's why it should be administrated only by specialized doctors with experience, because this has some side effects that can be avoided if the injections are done by a professional. When I did my botox Toronto treatment for excessive sweating I was lucky to have the best doctor there doing my treatment. It was painless and with great results.

You are quite right and this toxin was originally used to stop 'ticks in patients by paralysing the muscles that the tick affected. In that respect it is excellent and has done a lot of good. As you say in the right hands and with the right application it is a great cosmetic aid for those who think they need it. Myself I think that it is a slippery slope and that once you start you just want to go further and further until you end up with a totally plastic looking face which is worse than the natural wrinkles you would have had if you had left well alone!

Botox is one of the many trade names for the neurotoxic protein called botulinum toxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In large doses, the protein causes botulism, a rare paralytic illness often linked to food poisoning.

However, the protein is used in cosmetic medicine to treat moderate to severe brow furrow (glabellar lines), uncontrolled blinking, lazy eye, wrinkles, and facial creases.

That's right it is and the application of Botox was originally and still is medicinal. It is now rampant in the beauty industry though but unless it is done well, I think that it looks a bit plastic. I even sara programme the other day where one horrendous old harpie who had made herself look like Barbie at 50 was injecting her own daughter with Botox at the age of 5 for beauty pageants!! Horrible.
